Parish Structure
AboutArchdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall: The Holy Name of Mary Parish is part of the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall.
The Pastor/ Parochial Administrator: The Pastor /Parochial Administrator of the Parish, “is the proper shepherd of the parish entrusted to him. He exercises the pastoral care of that community under the authority of the diocesan bishop with whom he has been called to share in the ministry of Christ so that, in the service of that community, he may discharge the duties of teaching, sanctifying and governing, with the cooperation of other priests or deacons and the assistance of the lay members of the faithful and in accordance with the norms of law”. The Laity: Lay members of the Parish, or parishioners, play an important part in the day-to-day operations of the Parish by helping the Pastor discharge his duties. They serve on two key Councils, namely the Parish Council, responsible for Parish pastoral programs and activities, and the Finance Council, which advises the Pastor on temporal matters, such as finances.
These Councils and other committees, ministries and services assist in a variety of sacramental, ministerial, social and functional aspects of Parish life. Please refer to our web page Serving in Ministries for a comprehensive listing of such Parish activities and photos. For contacts, see the listing of current Parish Team Leaders who may be contacted via the Parish Office.
